How to check your medicine is genuine
General guidance, checked by our pharmacist. Your medicine's own leaflet and your doctor's advice always come first.
Specialty medicines are expensive, which makes them a target for fakes. These quick checks take a minute.
Check every pack
- Seal: the carton or strip is sealed and undamaged.
- Batch and expiry: printed on the pack, and the same as on your bill.
- MRP: printed on the pack. You should never pay more than the MRP.
- Maker: the manufacturer's name and licence number are printed on the pack.
- Hologram or QR code: many companies add one — scanning the QR code often shows the product's details.
Warning signs
- No GST bill, or a bill without the batch and expiry.
- A price far below what every licensed pharmacy charges.
- Loose strips, re-stickered packs, or spelling mistakes on the carton.
- A cold medicine delivered warm, without an insulated box.
Buy from a licensed pharmacy
A licensed pharmacy buys from authorised distributors and gives a GST bill with the batch and expiry for every medicine. Our drug licences are shown at the bottom of every page of this website.
